How to Report Craigslist Scammers - Complain about Flim Flam Operations

Craigslist provide wide platform to shoppers without any charge. You can find here internet based advertisements, jobs, free products and sale of unwanted clutters also. Hence, there are more chances of fraud and scams. It is ones duty to rise complain about flim flam operations on Craigslist. It is not difficult to report a spam online but there are few guidelines which you have to follow before complaining. You should take following steps as soon as you come to know about scamming:

  1. Whenever you show any post that seems like scam, take screen shot, save all emails and conversations. They can be used as evidence.
  2. If there is any contact number, name or email address, save it. It will become useful for finding identity.
  3. After gathering enough evidences, complain with Craigslist. Fill out complain page on the main page under “Help” option on the top left-hand side of the main page. This option is also available at the right-hand side of classified pages.
  4. Submit the complaint online to the Internet Crime Complaint Center. The will forward complaint to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the National White Collar Crime Center and the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
  5. Provide your contact information such as phone number and email to the bureau along with all details and evidence of the scam.
  6. User can also complain to the Federal Trade Commission on toll free help line number 877-FTC-HELP. You will get help from your service agent. 
  7. You can also file a complaint to the FBI with the Internet Complaint Crime Center. Provide all information you have gathered. 
  8. The another option is to send an email to abuse@craigslist.org by using unique posting ID and a URL.
